The objective is usable illumination along escape routes, changes of direction, stairs, fire equipment and final exits when normal lighting fails. Fixture count alone does not prove coverage.

Fire alarm cause-and-effect, emergency power, exit signage, smoke control, access control and occupant procedures must align with the fire strategy and authority-approved design.
Test the condition people will rely on
Functional and duration tests, battery condition, charger status, damaged fittings, records and corrective actions should be managed as an asset register rather than an informal checklist.
Codes, approvals, credentials, system evidence and authority requirements change. Confirm the current legal entity, scope, project specification and acceptance route before procurement or installation.
