Inspect an assembly, not a door leaf
Performance depends on the frame, leaf, glazing, seals, hinges, closer, latch, hardware, wall interface and installation. Replacing one component can affect the accepted assembly.
Look for functional defects
The door should close and latch from the released position without binding. Excessive gaps, damaged seals, unapproved holes, wedges and poorly coordinated access hardware require disposition.
Create a maintainable register
Each door needs a unique identity, location, rating where available, defect status, photograph, corrective action and reinspection date so facility teams can control recurrence.
Codes, approvals, credentials, system evidence and authority requirements change. Confirm the current legal entity, scope, project specification and acceptance route before procurement or installation.
