01

Start with the fire scenario

Oil and gas fireproofing begins with the project fire and explosion analysis, not a generic material name. The specified exposure, resistance period, critical steel temperature and protected equipment determine which qualification evidence is relevant.

  • Hydrocarbon or project-defined fire curve
  • Required resistance period
  • Critical temperature and structural function
  • Environmental and mechanical exposure
02

Thickness belongs to the member

Steel geometry changes how quickly a member heats. Section factor, orientation, primer, reinforcement and system data must be converted into a member-by-member schedule before application quantities are fixed.

03

Inspection must follow the build-up

Surface preparation, primer compatibility, climate, application passes, thickness, adhesion, repairs and topcoat are recorded as one system. A final visual check cannot reconstruct missing hold-point evidence.

Project-specific verification

Codes, approvals, credentials, system evidence and authority requirements change. Confirm the current legal entity, scope, project specification and acceptance route before procurement or installation.
