01C / Intumescent Fireproofing

Thin-film steel protection designed from section data—not guesswork.

Intumescent coating application with project-approved design thickness, compatible primers, controlled conditions and DFT reporting.

Direct route

A controlled path from requirement to delivery.

Intumescent coatings expand under heat to form an insulating char. They are often selected where appearance, lower weight or a thinner build-up matters.

The required dry-film thickness varies by member geometry, fire-resistance period, steel temperature criterion and tested manufacturer data. Vortexen does not quote a universal thickness.

01 / Buyer outcome

What this route should produce

  • Manufacturer-based thickness schedule
  • Visible primer and topcoat compatibility
  • Layer and environment records
  • Final DFT and rectification report
02 / Inputs

What Vortexen needs to qualify it

  • Steel schedule and geometry
  • Required rating
  • Critical temperature
  • Primer system
  • Environment and exposure
  • Architectural finish
01 / Scope

What the route can cover

  • Water-based systems where specified
  • Solvent-based systems where specified
  • On-site application
  • Off-site application coordination
  • Compatible primers and topcoats
  • Touch-up and reinstatement
02 / Method

How work moves forward

  1. Validate approved system and thickness schedule
  2. Inspect surface and primer
  3. Control temperature, humidity and dew point
  4. Apply in measured coats
  5. Inspect DFT, repair defects and close out
03 / Evidence

What buyers should expect

  • Approved product and system data
  • Thickness schedule
  • Environmental logs
  • Wet- and dry-film inspection records

Commercial and technical guardrails

What this route refuses to hide.

Fast progress is valuable only when assumptions, responsibility and limitations remain visible to the buyer and delivery team.

  • 01No generic DFT assumption
  • 02No application over unknown primer
  • 03No accelerated recoating outside limits
  • 04No unrecorded site repair

Frequently asked

Answers before the first meeting.

01Is intumescent always thinner than cementitious fireproofing?+

It is commonly a thinner-build solution, but suitability, installed cost, environment, finish and required performance must be compared project by project.

02What does DFT mean?+

Dry-film thickness, a critical inspection measure used to verify that the applied coating meets the approved design requirement.

03Can it be applied outdoors?+

Only when the selected system, primer, topcoat and exposure classification support the environment and project requirements.

Bring the actual requirement, evidence and deadline.
