Intumescent coatings expand under heat to form an insulating char. They are often selected where appearance, lower weight or a thinner build-up matters.
The required dry-film thickness varies by member geometry, fire-resistance period, steel temperature criterion and tested manufacturer data. Vortexen does not quote a universal thickness.
